Event Description:
For my project with Ripple Effect, I worked with the local HIV/AIDS student testing service at Duke called “Know Your Status” to further expand their reputation and visibility on campus. In order to create publicity and hype for Know Your Status, I started the Know Your Status Morphsuit campaign. In the campaign, fellow testing counselors and I dressed up in morphsuits–which are full-body spandex suits that cover your body head to toe, and even your face–which we wore around campus holding signs that had slogans such as “Do you know YOUR status?” or “Planning on having some FUN this summer? Get tested before you do!” We then walked all around campus being as visible as possible; dancing, doing cartwheels, laying down or sitting in the middle of the sidewalk, in order to get as much publicity and attention as possible. We even had a photograph of us featured in the campus newspaper “The Chronicle.” All-in-all it was a very successful initiative.
